Welcome to Homestead Tattoo
Homestead Tattoo opened its doors in 2022 with the idea of becoming a warm, inviting space where clients could feel comfortable and inspired. The name "Homestead Tattoo" reflects my family's roots in prairie homesteading and my deep love for Alberta's history.
At the shop, I specialize in large-scale Japanese-style tattoos, which I’m deeply passionate about. Whether it's a full-back piece or something smaller, as long as it’s Japanese-themed, I’m excited to work on it. My goal is to provide each of my clients with a personalized experience where the tattoo studio’s relaxed atmosphere complements the bold and intricate work being done.

What to do first?
I general, a consult at the shop is a good place to start. Then we can talk about ideas and plan out the tattoo you're planning on getting. Having a rough idea of what you're looking for is important, but you don't necessarily have to have the whole thing planned out. If you can't make it to the shop in person, we can usually get most of the ideas sorted out via email as well.
Preparing for your tattoo appointment.
It's tattoo day!
You've approved the design, and now its time to get tattooed
The best thing I can recommend for the day of the appointment is a good breakfast, and be well rested. It's also a good idea to bring something to eat and drink throughout the day. I usually book all day appointments, but take breaks to stretch and grab lunch. So having something to eat and drink throughout the day can definitely help.

Aftercare
Following these few simple steps will insure you have an easier time healing your new tattoo.
-
Please leave the bandage on until tomorrow morning. Whenever you wake, remove the bandage and wash the tattoo with warm water and mild soap. We recommend something gentle and unscented. ( Dove, or Ivory work well.) Pat dry the tattoo with a clean towel.
-
Give the tattoo a light wash twice a day, always using gentle soap, and patting dry.
-
On the 3rd or 4th day you may apply a SMALL amount of unscented, water based lotion. Once or twice a day is enough. Lotion does not help the tattoo heal faster, it is to provide relief from the tattoo drying out and getting itchy. DO NOT over moisturize your tattoo.
-
Some scabbing may occur during the healing process, this is normal. Your tattoo will peel the same way as a sunburn. It is very important never to pick or scratch your tattoo.
-
Do not soak your new tattoo in water. ( a little water won’t hurt, just don’t soak the tattoo in water, ie: swimming, hot tub, or baths.)
