About Homestead Tattoo
I started tattooing back in 2005 at Genesis Designs in Vernon, B.C., where I had the privilege of apprenticing under Rob Forest. From there, my passion for the craft grew steadily, and in 2010, I made the move to Calgary, where I joined the team at Immaculate Concept. For the next five years, I dedicated my time to honing my skills as a tattooer before transitioning to Kensho Tattoo. During my seven years at Kensho, I truly found my focus and love of traditional Japanese-style tattooing, which has since become my primary style of artistic expression.
Traditional Japanese tattoos fascinate me because of their rich storytelling and bold, large-scale designs. There’s something endlessly challenging and rewarding about this style of tattooing that keeps me from ever getting bored of it. I take pride in creating work that is bright, bold, and easily readable, ensuring that each piece stands out while maintaining the depth and symbolism inherent to Japanese imagery. Every tattoo I design is an interpretation of this timeless art form, and I aim to bring my own voice and style to each one.
In 2022, I opened Homestead Tattoo, a tattoo studio in Calgary that reflects my vision of a clean, yet warm and inviting space. It’s important to me that my clients feel comfortable and welcome, as the work we do together is often large-scale and deeply personal. My clients are typically those who appreciate traditional Japanese tattoos and are open to my creative interpretation. I believe in professionalism and politeness in my interactions, ensuring that the entire experience—from consultation to completion—is as enjoyable as the art itself.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to travel and take on guest spots across Canada and internationally. There’s so much more to learn and explore within the world of tattooing, and I can’t wait to connect with more artists and clients around the globe.
